September/ October 2014 Hello Everyone and Welcome! It is nearing the end of Winter.... and I am having to do a 'Refurbishment of sorts'.... I hope to be back up and running for Spring... 1st September, 2014. My menus offers a Breakfast, a Luncheon or an Afternoon Tea sitting. It is Victorian in style though the fare is more modern.... I do try though to include as far as possible those dishes which have been popular since the 'institution of Tea' in the 1840's. Namely, Scones!.... I do have available too 'A Formal Full Victorian Tea' Sitting (although one does need to have a party of 6 persons, minimum) ... There is also as a simple 'Tea for Two'! Since I am inclined to celebrate any occasion with a little Tea and Cake, as I suspect most ladies across the world do, I will make every effort to make your tea experience a happy one! CELEBRATE HAPPY EVENTS ... ENJOY A TEA - SITTING SETTING IN AN olde worlde .... The Victorian Tea Parlour offers you a wonderful opportunity to relax and enjoy a good breakfast or a light Lady's Luncheon in convivial surroundings. There is gentle background music to soothe the senses - and a delightful selection of Teas from which to choose. In our modern age, tables tend to be bare of linen and there is little ceremony attached to the art of tea drinking. But at "A Spot of Tea," I try to preserve the Victorian and Edwardian niceties and indulgences for your pleasure. Feel like a lady of a by-gone era, whilst you sip tea and chat with a friend or two, just as our grandmothers used to! We should want to celebrate Life itself - and all our special relationships ought to be celebrated too! Share time with your Sister, or Mother, an aunt or a REALLY GREAT GIRLFRIEND in a special way! They lift our hearts, and give our spirits wings in this very busy world when we feel low! Simply having Friends and loved ones, is one of the very best of all Reasons to Celebrate! A quiet afternoon (or morning tea) with some yummy eats at the Victorian Tea Parlour is only a phone call away - and I am waiting to be of service to you .... Simple Scones and Tea - are always on the menu! SCONES & TEA FOR TWO - R75 *
* Special Please be sure to telephone for ALL Reservation, So that I may best accommodate Your Requirements! All my meals are prepared for each Fresh Booking. The 'Full Victorian Tea' is pure decadence - both as far as eating pleasure go as well as time-wise! One needs to allow a full 2 hours for enjoyment-as it is an experience not to be rushed! Call me, reserve a table and enjoy a Uniquely Memorable Experience! I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about the wonderful custom Which we all call 'Tea'! Although Tea was certainly being enjoyed before the Victorian period, the custom of taking Afternoon Tea was Instituted by Anna, the Duchess of Bedford, Lady-in-waiting to Queen Victoria in the mid 1800's. The first Tea Parlours and Salons, catering specifically to Ladies began appearing soon after - Ladies were finally able to venture out into public and enjoy a cup of Tea without a male escort! Today, we may think nothing of going 'out to Tea' - but this was not always so. We have certainly come a long way since Those Days - Which incidentally span a mere century and a half Perhaps! It is the Elegance of the Period which we still hanker after today. And, it is in light of this 'mostly Feminine whimsy' for that particularly Romantic pass-time, that I offer Tea in the old Traditional Style! Gather your friends, and make a booking. It will be my Pleasure to Entertain! My name is 'Lady' Elizabeth Wallis and I hope to revive the Importance of the Tea-time Institution. As your Tea Hostess, it will be my pleasure to serve you tea and something delectable to eat! Not too long ago, mid-morning or mid-afternoon tea time gave one the opportunity to stop awhile, to relax and to enjoy friendly conversations with company quietly. The 21st Century is a very busy place! Times may have changed ........ but People have not! We still need to eat and drink throughout the day. And, being too busy most often means, one has little or no time to be kind to oneself. Truth is though, we all still love being spoiled - at least a little! This is why I offer you a small haven to escape to! At my Tea Salon, you can spend time with a good friend or two in quiet conversation, nurture your relationships in a pleasant, convivial atmosphere, and reward yourself with a 'Genteel Treat'. Enjoy the pleasures of an elegantly set Tea table, drink Tea from Pretty China Cups accompanied by delicate Lady-like portions. Allow the gentle strains of background music - to soothe away your cares and restore you to a Restful frame of mind. A visit to "The Victorian Tea Parlour" is sure to leave you refreshed and replete. Do drop off your 'Calling Card' on the way out, (or Perhaps, sign my Guest Book!) and ... Please call again soon! I REMAIN Cordially, An 'Honorary Modern Day Victorian " Your Tea Hostess The Lady
